2023 Annual Celebration with Author John Womack

“I have authored several books on the history of Mexico and other pieces on labor everywhere. I wrote Labor Power and Strategy because of a deep interest in Mexican industrial labor, which works in the same way as industrial labor elsewhere. In 2007, I published a book in Mexico, Fuerza Obrera y Posición Estratégica, about bottlenecks or chokepoints in the production of goods, services, and transport, strategic positions which workers in these places understand better than anyone else and can use for disruptive power, not only in their workplace but all across the economy. In 2018, old friends, Peter Olney, and Glenn Perusek thought to interview me about the book, did the interviews, transcribed them, and organized ten major labor organizers and scholars to comment on them; PM Press published the result - Labor Power and Strategy. We hope it will become a pocket book among labor organizers for decades to come. “ - John Womack
