Library Janitors Organize with SEIU Local 3

Janitors working throughout the 29 branches of the Cuyahoga County
Public Library system are looking to become members of SEIU Local 3.
The janitors work for two companies, VGS, Inc. and ADW, Inc. VGS has
recognized the union and are prepared to bargain with Local 3 while
ADW is holding back. In response, janitors have held worker actions at
ADW offices in the last few months, including rallies and sending a
delegation to meet with the president of the company.

Robert Busch, a cleaner for VGS at the Parma Heights library branch, is
a strong supporter of the union and was the first worker to sign a union
card. "It is important for me to have a way to bargain with my employer
for better wages and benefits. Everything keeps getting more expensive
but my wages stay the same. I am proud to have united with my
co-workers to bring about change and more opportunity for me and my
family."
